A Sound Life…

My beautiful, kirtan singing friends, Edo and Jo, have launched a new website called A Sound Life. They have started a new international charity bringing the healing and creative power of music and yoga to those who need it most.

Edo and Jo are the most generous and kind hearted people I know. If you have time please visit their new website and see how wonderful they are and the giving work they do.

The Guest House…

A few weeks ago my Thought For The Day was this poem by Rumi…

The Guest House

This human being is a guesthouse.

Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and attend them all.

Even if they are a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture, still treat each guest honourably.

He may be clearing you out for some new delight.

The shame, the malice, meet them at the door laughing…and invite them in.

I have just watched a lovely performance by my friends Edo and Jo where they have put these lyrics to music. It is divine ~ I hope you enjoy it…

Getting into the spirit…

The best thing about attending any type of festival is that you get to sample lots of different styles of what is on offer. Sometimes you will attend a session that you adore, one that you don’t like at all or one that gives you some new perspective. The 2013 Sydney Spirit Festival delivered all of these last weekend.

My favourites of the weekend were:

  • Edo and Jo and their mood lifting kirtan singing.
  • The surroundings of the lovely Satyananda Ashram…peaceful grounds and gardens and magic vibrations.
  • The interesting people I met.
  • The scrumptious vegetarian food provided by the Satyananda kitchen.
  • Being involved in “karma yoga”
  • Simon Borg Oliver’s yoga classes which worked on making the spine more supple.
  • Adult face painting…sweet Elfie painted a pink peacock feather on my forehead.
  • The Satyananda shop ~ of course…
  • Yoga nidra meditation.

Sydney Spirit Festival…

Spirit_Retreat_Poster_2013_finalThis Friday Padma and I will be attending the first Sydney Spirit Festival at the Satyananda Yoga Ashram at Mangrove Mountain, NSW, Australia. The retreat runs for three days and we are getting very excited about it.

Last year Rahul and I attended the Byron Spirit Festival in Mullumbimby, NSW, Australia. It was the most amazing weekend of yoga, workshops, kirtan and we got to see our friends the wonderful Gyuto Monks. The highlight of last year’s event was lying on the persian rugs in the school hall listening to Deva Premal sing her mesmerising songs.

I have visited the Satyanada Yoga Ashram before for retreats and it is truly beautiful and serene there. No computers, no phones…just birds singing, divine vegetarian food and peace, peace, peace…

What I’m listening to…

This music is always uplifting and raises the energy and vibrations in our home…Edo and Jo are special people who devote their lives to seva (service to others)…

Om Namo Narayani…I hope you enjoy
