I heard some fabulous lines from a beautiful film about India called The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. The words really resonated with me and my love for India. I hope you don’t mind me sharing them with you…
“How can you bear this country? What do you see that I don’t?”
“Oh the light, the colours, the smiles…and the way people see life as a privilege and not a right…it teaches me something.”
These words touched me profoundly as they sum up so clearly why I love India so much. We are all never too old to learn something. Whether it be something new, something different or something we never knew about ourselves. India helps me to do that…in a very perfect way.
I really like that movie too! So heartwarming and brought me back to the places that I’ve been to there. π
Yes the wonderful characters were great. The movie was much better than the book which had a rather sad ending.
Indeed! I haven’t read the book, but the movie really makes me tear up and smile at the same time. Thanks for sharing, Lakshmi. π
I have watched this movie about 10 times and know the scene where these words were spoken. Graham Dashwood!!! I can see why you love India.
Yes I have watched it a LOT of times too π Judi Dench and Bill Nighy are wonderful in it too…actually ALL the characters are fantastic!
I agree – they joy of life was reflected in the portrayal of their characters…
Beautifully conveyed, Lakshmi.
Thank you so much Michele π
I also love the movie and especially the line “India is an assault on the senses. It’s like a wave; resist and you go under, ride it out and you arrive at the others side”. I fondly remember our trip and if we return will seek your assistance for some tips!
Yes India certainly tickles ALL the senses π I hope you do travel there again ~ Lakshmi x
I loved that movie! I wish there were more movies like that, featuring older people all around the world, sharing their culture.
I loved the movie so much I bought it π yes sharing culture is a beautiful thing ~ Lakshmi x
