Holy Cow!

One of the endearing sights all over India is the Indian cow. You will see them everywhere from the side of the road, middle of the road to anywhere you can think of. They are allowed to roam freely and they most certainly do so! You see them eating anything and everything with shrine flowers being a favourite.

The cow is sacred in India as it represents Mother Earth. Like Mother Earth the cow gives selflessly of its milk and expects nothing in return.

Please enjoy some of the cows I have met on my travels…

  1. I love it. Being from rural Oklahoma I am used to seeing cows behind fences lazily grazing or doing the things cows do. But I am always amazed to see them in the streets in India, especially when they are hanging out or resting on busy intersections or highways. Thanks for sharing.

    • I am from a farm too and have very fond memories of getting the milking cow into the yard in the afternoon. It is lovely seeing cows so close and personal in India…

I'd love to hear from you...
